Mysuru: A five-day training-cum-workshop on Testing & Evaluation and Item writing for the Hindi and Urdu teachers of South India, began at National Testing Service-India (NTS-I) of Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL), Mysuru on Monday.
Prof. D.G. Rao, Director, CIIL inaugurated the programme. In his inaugural speech he said that truthful and scientific evaluation is the need of the hour. In this connection teachers should understand the different parameters of testing and evaluation.
While emphasising the responsibilities of teachers, Prof. Rao said that the job of the teacher requires lot of skills with analytical ability and a periodical assessment is needed with uniformity in testing and evaluation for teachers as well as students for their better progress.
Prof. P.R. Dharmesh Fernandez, Professor-cum-Deputy Director, CIIL and Head, Centre for Testing and Evaluation, briefed the participants about the activities of the CIIL and its various schemes. Further, he added that the benefits gained by the teachers during this programme shall be implemented in all the classroom activities.
Dr. Pankaj Dwivedi, Officer In-charge, NTS-I, briefed about the objectives of the workshop and assured that it will provide the teachers and research scholars with solutions to deal with common problems faced by students while writing exams.
Dr. Sanjay Prasad Srivastava and Dr. G.M. Ansari, both Junior Resource Persons, NTS-I, CIIL compered. Dr. Biresh Kumar, Resource Person, NTS-I, proposed a vote of thanks.
Around 64 Assistant Professors and School teachers from various Schools, Universities and Government First Grade Colleges of Southern States are participating in this workshop.
