Five-day vintage cars and  bikes exhibition begins in Hebbal

MGS Vintages has been organising Vintage cars rally since four years. As public could not view the vintage beauties properly during the rally, we have organised the expo this year and there will be no rally.

Mysuru: On the occasion of Dasara festivities, which began from today, an expo of vintage cars and bikes was inaugurated by renowned city Sculptor Arun Yogiraj at MGS (M. Gopinath Shenoy) Vintages, near Infosys campus in Hebbal Industrial Area this morning. This vintage car collection owned by Gopinath Shenoy is a testament to the grace of machines from bygone eras and a roadmap of automotive evolution.

The expo was inaugurated by renowned sculptor Arun Yogiraj by going around in a 1967 Mercedes Benz 230 S and 1932 MG Morris vintage cars along with his wife Vijetha Arun    and others.

Gopinath Shenoy has over 50 vintage cars that are over 80 to 100 years old. Some of his vintage collections include Dodge, 1930 Ford, 1930 Cadillac, Daimler Saloon, once owned by legendary Bollywood actor Ashok Kumar, cars used by the Maharaja of Ramgad, Maharaja of Jodhpur and Maharaja of Burdwan, Rolls Royce Phantom 2 – 1935 model, Ford Model ‘A’ Rumble Seat – 1930 model, Mercedes Benz W111 220S Fintail 1965 model, Dodge Kingsway Saloon – 1957 model, Daimler Saloon – 1965 model, Buick Electra Invicta – 1959 model, Italian Fiat – 1962 model, Austin 8 – 1954 model, Fiat – 1956 model, Beetle – 1963 model, Standard, Buick Road, Standard Vanguard, Chevrolet, Dodge, Mini Cooper Willys Jeep and Land Rover among others. Also, vintage bikes  from the first edition of India and models since 1909 are on display at the expo.

Apart from cars, Shenoy has an enviable collection of vintage scooters and bikes like Lamby, Lambretta, Victoria, Vespa 150, Yamaha, Luna, etc. All the vehicles are in showroom condition and work well on the road like mean machines.

Speaking on the occasion, Gopinath Shenoy said that MGS Vintages has been organising Vintage cars rally since four years and added that only rally was being held all these  years. “As public could not view the vintage beauties properly during the rally, we have organised the expo this year and  there will be no rally.”

Arun Yogiraj, who also spoke, said that tourists and Mysureans can view the vintage cars and bikes as only exhibition is organised and there is no rally. He lauded the organisers for holding the expo of rare cars collection. “Watching vintage vehicles itself is a pleasure. All vehicles are maintained well and are in great condition and are ready to hit the roads,” Arun added.

The vintage expo is open to public from 10.30 am to 4 pm till Sept. 26 for which entry fee is    Rs. 50 per head.
