Bengaluru: Five candidates from the family of Congress Ministers in the State, who contested the LS polls, have won.
While Radhakrishna Doddamani, who won from Gulbarga (SC) reserved seat on a Congress ticket, is the son-in-law of AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, Prabha Mallikarjun, who won from Davangere, is the wife of Minister for Mines and Geology S.S. Mallikarjun, Sagar Khandre, who won from Bidar, is the son of Forest Minister Eshwar Khandre, Sunil Bose, who won from Chamarajanagar (SC) is the son of Social Welfare Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa and Priyanka Jarkiholi, who won from Chikkodi, is the daughter of PWD Minister Satish Jarkiholi.
In other such cases where LS poll winners from Congress are from political families are: E. Tukaram, who won Ballari (ST) seat, is from a political family from Ballari, Rajashekar Hitnal, who won from Koppal, is brother of Koppal MLA Raghavendra Hitnal & Shreyas Patel, who won from Hassan, is the grandson of ex-MP Puttaswamy Gowda.
However, G. Kumar Nayak, who is a former IAS Officer, is the lone Congress candidate who won without any political background. He won from Raichur (ST) seat.
