Sir,
To cover up the expected and un-expected deficit in Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) budget and revenues, MCC has devised novel mode of cess collections in the name of “Cemetery Cess” and “Garden Cess” from this financial year which are of substantial amounts.
I fail to comprehend for what purpose MCC is collecting cemetery cess from the tax-payers every year. This is apart from the fees collected at the cemetery to conduct last rites. What an irony !
I do not know what MCC means by garden cess? Is this amount being collected by MCC for maintaining a garden or for not maintaining a garden in our property ?
These new cess are nothing but daylight robbery executed by MCC. The law-abiding tax-payers are constrained to pay their taxes as per the SAS form generated and we the honest tax-payers have no other choice.
Over a period of time, we have been paying Health Cess, Library Cess, Beggary Cess, Urban Transport Cess and now from this financial year onwards they have added Garden Cess and Cemetery Cess.
MCC at first should plug all its loopholes in the revenue collection and initiate stringent action against the defaulters, rather than penalising honest tax-payers by adding a couple of cess every year.
