Mysore/Mysuru: Ganabharathi, Mysuru, has organised Karnatak Flute Recital by Vidwan Mysore A. Chandan Kumar tomorrow (June 7) at 6 pm in memory of Sri Vasudeva Udupa and sponsored by Sri Raghavendra Udupa and family at Veene Seshanna Bhavan in Kuvempunagar.
He will be accompanied by Vid. A. Radhesh on mridanga, Vidu. Sindhu Suchetan on violin and Vid. Bhargava Halambi on kanjira.
Profile: Chandan is an A-grade flautist of AIR and Doordarshan. He has performed in most of the major Sabhas in India and abroad. He has also performed in Radio Sangeetha Sammelan and Mysuru Dasara programmes.
He is the great grandson of Sangeetha Kalanidhi Mysore T. Chowdiah and a disciple of Vid. M. Gopalakrishna, Mysuru. He had the opportunity to be guided by Padma Bhushan P.S. Narayanaswamy.
Some of the awards conferred on him include, Ustad Bismilla Khan Yuva Puraskar from Kendriya Sangeet Natak Academy, prize for Best Junior Concert from Madras Music Academy, Best Artiste Award from Karnataka Ganakala Parishat, Ananya Yuva Puraskar from Ananya, Bengaluru and awards from Bharath Kalachar and Narada Gana Sabha, Chennai.
