Pandit Taranath Foun-dation has organised a Hindustani flute recital by renowned flautist Pandit Sudip Chattopadhyay from Kolkata.
The concert is at 10 am on Sunday, 8th of July at M. L. Krishnaswami’s residence Meenakshi, #12/A, First Main Road, 4th Stage, TK Layout, near Kamakshi Hospital.
Pt. Taranath Foundation in pursuit of promoting Indian classical music has been providing platform for leading musicians of our country. This is a rare opportunity for connoisseurs to listen to a morning concert, according to the press statement issued by the Managing Trustee Pt. Rajeev Taranath.
Born in 1966, Sudip was groomed under Pandit Debaprasad Banerjee, the senior most disciple of Pandit Gaur Goswami. Sudip is acknowledged as one of the perfect exponents of Pandit Pannalal Ghosh’s gharana. He has done MA in Music from Rabindra Bharathi University, Kolkata and is an “A” grade artiste of AIR and also currently working as a staff artiste of All India Radio, Kolkata.
Sudip is a regular performer for AIR and Doordarshan. He has performed at all prestigious music conferences like Dover Lane, Sangeeth Research Academy, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan (Delhi), SPICMACAY and Ramakrishna Mission. He has toured and enthralled audiences with his melodious rendition in European countries like Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, and France.
Sudip will be accompanied on tabla by Dr. Uday Raj Karpur, one of the top ranking tabla artistes of Karnataka. He holds a doctorate in tabla and has accompanied leading musicians of our country like Pt. Rajeev Taranath, Pt. Bhimsen Joshi, Dr. Gangubhai Hangal, Pt. Venktesh Kumar, and Praveen Godkhindi.
Dr. Uday has also toured extensively throughout India and abroad accompanying top classical artistes. Based in Bengaluru, he is training many young students in the field of tabla.
