Sir,
Infosys Co-Founder Kris Gopalakrishnan’s suggestion (or advice!?) to decentralise investments beyond Bengaluru and divert to Tier II and III cities like Mysuru, Hubballi – Dharwad is a right advice (SOM dated Aug.19).
Nobody can deny, Bengaluru is bursting at its seams. Infrastructure is crumbling, civic system pathetically poor, supply of drinking water to the citizens is becoming a nightmare. Less said the better about transport system though Metro connectivity to certain areas has eased the pressure to some extent.
Unfortunately, political leadership in Karnataka has not understood the gravity of the situation and continues approval of investments in Bengaluru. Tier II and III cities are the potential places to grow by improving the infrastructure. This will not only reduce the pressure on Bengaluru, but also help growth potential of such cities and help horizontal growth of the State.
Hope, Karnataka Government will take Infosys Co-Founder Kris Gopalakrishnan’s advice seriously and avoid collapse of Bengaluru, the proud capital of Karnataka.
