Mysore/Mysuru: “Our country which is still following the text-book pattern of education needs to follow the American pattern of education where students are assigned tasks as it will help a lot in enhancing their thinking ability,” opined senior folk scholar Prof. H.S. Ramachandregowda (Hi.Shi. Ramachandregowda).
He was speaking after releasing writer Prof. V.N. Shivaram’s book ‘Janapada-Jaanapada’, a folk study and field study book, at a programme organised at Junior B.A. Hall of Maharaja’s College here on Wednesday.
Bemoaning that our education system does not teach the youth on how to lead life, Ramachandregowda said that we are still following the text-book pattern which does not suit in the current context.
“Our country should come out of this mindset and facilitate innovative and research- mindedness in education. Then only the youths of our country can build their life that is both strong and purposeful. There is no caste and creed for folklore and welcomes everyone. Folklore also involves everybody,” he opined.
Maharaja’s College Principal Prof. L. Somashekarappa, Administrative Officer V. Shanmugham, Dr. M. Byregowda, Folklore Department Head Dr. H.R. Chetana, Prof.VijayalakshmiManapura, Dr.JayalakshmiSeetapura, MylahalliRevanna and others were present onthe occasion.
