29 cases booked, 44 notices served and Rs. 9,000 spot fine collected in two days
Mysore/Mysuru: Acting tough on footpath encroachers, the Mysuru City Traffic Police, who conducted the encroachment clearance drives on July 31 and Aug. 1, have booked a total of 29 cases, besides issuing 44 notices on encroachers and collecting spot fines on Rs. 9,000 from the offenders.
On July 31, Traffic Police personnel attached to Devaraja, Krishnaraja, Narasimharaja, Siddarthanagar and V.V. Puram traffic Police, conducted the drives in their respective jurisdiction and registered eight cases under Karnataka Police Act, eight cases under Indian Motor Vehicle (IMV) Act besides issuing four notices and collecting spot fines of Rs. 3,500 from the encroachers.
On Aug. 1, Krishnaraja, Narasimharaja and Siddarthanagar Traffic Police personnel, conducted the footpath encroachment clearance drive in their jurisdiction and booked three cases under Karnataka Police Act, 10 cases under IMV Act and have issued 40 notices besides collecting spot fines of Rs. 5,500 from the offenders.
DCP (Crime and Traffic) M.S. Geetha Prasanna and ACP (Traffic) S.E. Gangadharaswamy guided Inspectors of all Traffic Police Stations in the footpath encroachment clearance drives.
