Foreign tourists harassed by walk-along vendors

A file photo of foreigners thronging St. Philomena’s Church in city during last Christmas season.

Sir,

For tourists it’s more important how they feel when they are holidaying, rather than what places they are visiting. I have seen many times that the unofficial (unwanted) tourist guides or vendors (read flute vendors) try persuading to buy their goods to a menacing extent, specially to foreigners from western countries that they are wholly disturbed and busy avoiding them rather than enjoying the sites.

It’s one area where our Tourism Department needs to check. It’s not going to be a one-time process but a continuous effort to stop this menace.
