Gundlupet: A Forest Officer, working at Bandipur Project Tiger as a Range Forest Officer (RFO), attempted suicide at the Forest Department Guest House on Monday over personal problems.
The RFO, who attempted suicide, has been identified as 46-year-old K.R. Mukund, a native of Hunsur, who was staying alone at the guest house since four years. His wife and children are staying at Belthangady.
Mukund, who was staying alone, was said to be suffering from illness and on Monday morning, he attempted suicide by hanging self to the beam at the guest house where he was staying.
A ‘D-Group’ employee, who accidentally came to the guest house to fetch water, saw Mukund attempting suicide and called others and with their help rescued Mukund, who was by then struggling to breathe with a noose around his neck.
After removing the noose, they rushed Mukund to Gundlupet General Hospital, where he was provided first-aid and later rushed him to K.R. Hospital in Mysuru for further treatment.
Mukund is now out of danger, according to sources at the Forest Department.
Bandipur Project Tiger Director Ambady Madhava, ACF Ravikumar and others visited the hospital and enquired the health of Mukund. No case has been registered in this regard.
