Mysore/Mysuru: Sri Bhakta Kanakadasa’s 535th Jayantyotsava, installation of the office-bearers of Mysuru City-District Taluk Kurubara Sangha and Pratibha Puraskar presentation ceremony will be held at Kalamandira on Nov.30 at 10 am under the aegis of Karnataka Region Kurubara Sangha.
Announcing this at a press meet at Pathrakartara Bhavan in city yesterday, Sangha State President B. Subramanya said that Leader of the Opposition and former Chief Minister Siddharamaiah will inaugurate the event in the gracious presence of Haveri’s Kaginele Mahasamsthana Mutt Kanaka Gurupeetha Seer Sri Niranjananandapuri Swamiji and Mysuru Branch Mutt Seer Sri Shivanandapuri Swamiji.
On the occasion, over 250 students of the community from the district who have secured above 90% marks in SSLC and PUC exams will be presented Pratibha Puraskar while IAS and KAS officers, industrialists, social workers and those with social concern belonging to the community will be felicitated, he added.
Prior to this, an idol of Saint Kanakadasa, placed in a decorated chariot, will be taken in a procession from Nanjaraja Bahadur Choultry on Vinoba Road to Kalamandira. Sri Niranjananandapuri Swamiji, Sri Shivanandapuri Swamiji and Siddharamaiah will take part in the procession which will also feature kombu, kahale, dollu, tamate, nagari, purnakumbha and mangalavadya apart from folk troupes.
Former Mysuru Mayor T.B. Chikkanna, Sangha State Vice-President Rekha Priyadarshini, Member Hinkal Rajanna, Vishwanath, leader Nadanahalli Ravi, former Coporator M.K. Shankar and others were present at the press meet.
