Former Mayor demands withdrawal of Buffer Zone notification around sewage farm

Mysuru: Demanding that the Government withdraw the notification declaring the areas coming under 500mts radius of Vidyaranyapuram sewage farm as a Buffer Zone, former Mayor B.L. Bhyrappa has warned of leading an indefinite protest by residents.

Addressing a press meet here yesterday, Bhyrappa pointed out that there were many people who were residing in the areas for decades. The sudden decision of the authorities has left them shocked. The owners of apartments located in the vicinity of the farm are  unable to sell their properties.

The authorities should find an alternative solution and withdraw the notification at the earliest, he said.

Pointing out that he had suggested relocation of the Sewage Farm during his stint as the Mayor, Bhyrappa urged the officials to withdraw the notification.

Maintaining that the Sewage Farm can be relocated to the outskirts, the former Mayor alleged that the authorities did not bother to conduct a single meeting with the residents of the areas before declaring the 500 mts radius around the Sewage Farm as a Buffer Zone.

He also said that a PIL will be filed in the Court against the Buffer Zone notification. JP Nagar Lions Club President K.C. Basavaraj Swamy, Siddalingappa and others were present.
