Mysore/Mysuru: Lauding MUDA for coming up with a project for bringing Kabini water to MUDA– formed or approved Private Layouts in South Western parts of Mysuru such as Vijayanagar Fourth Stage and R.T. Nagar, former Mayor B.L. Bhyrappa said that the drinking water project should also cover other surrounding areas and Ashraya Layout.
Addressing a press meet here yesterday, Bhyrappa said that areas such as Kuppalur, Gorur, Gejjagalli, Ashraya Layout, Ramabainagar, Mahadevanagar and surroundings are not getting water from Kabini river.
Claiming that these areas are getting water from polluted Dalvoy Lake and Borewells around sewage farm, he urged the MUDA to bring Kabini water to these areas too.
Noting that at present Rs.30 crore has been set aside for Kabini drinking water project which is estimated to cost Rs.90 crore, the former Mayor wanted MUDA to take up the works under its own revenue funds, which stands at Rs.200 crore.
Chikka Manchaiah, a leader from Kuppalur, was present at the press meet.
