Forum alleges discrepancies in appointment of Mysore University Guest Lecturers

Mysuru: The Guest Lecturers Forum (Athithi Upanyasakara Okkoota), University of Mysore (UoM), has alleged irregularities in the appointment of Guest Lecturers.

In a press release, the Forum claimed that UoM Registrar Prof. R. Rajanna had thrown UGC norms to the wind in the appointment of new Guest Lecturers in various Departments for the year 2018-19.

Claiming that the University Syndicate at a meeting chaired by the then Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof. T.K. Umesh had decided to continue with the Guest Lecturers appointed in 2017-18, the Forum alleged that undeserving candidates were appointed as guest faculty at the behest of Prof. Rajanna who was out to set personal scores.

Accusing Prof. Rajanna of taking caste and money into consideration in the appointment of new Guest Lecturers, while ignoring the credentials of deserving candidates, the Forum urged for stopping the interference of the Registrar in all academic issues.

Maintaining that Prof. Rajanna became the Registrar through dubious means, although the High Court and the Governor had refrained the authorities from appointing Rajanna to the post, the Forum urged the Governor-Chancellor to order a fair probe into the appointment of Guest Lecturers (2018-19).

Demanding sacking of Prof. Rajanna from his post, the Forum warned of launching an indefinite hunger stir in front of Crawford Hall.
