Mysuru: The ground-breaking ceremony was conducted for the works on constructing a four-storey dormitory for the caretakers of in-patients at Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research (Jayadeva Hospital) on KRS Road in the city on Tuesday.
Acting Director of Jayadeva Institute Dr. K.S. Ravindranath conducted the ceremony for the works taken up at an estimated cost of Rs. 4.5 crore.
Speaking to media persons later, Dr. Ravindranath said, the dormitory is being constructed for the benefit of the relatives of in-patients to stay overnight, following the rise in number of cardiac patients admitted for treatment at the hospital. The Social Welfare Department is bearing Rs. 2 crore of the total project cost, while the remaining funds will be borne from internal resources of the hospital.
The contractor has been told to complete the works on 80-bed dormitory spread in four floors, within a deadline of one year. The engineers attached to the hospital will have to supervise the works. On an average, the hospital receives footfalls of 500 to 600 patients admitted as in-patients daily. The basic infrastructural facilities like drinking water, electricity, fan, toilets among others will be provided at the proposed dormitory, said Dr. Ravindranath.

Harsha, Dr. Bharathi, Dr. Rajith, Dr. Rashmi, Nursing Superintendents Yogalakshmi and Harish Kumar, PRO Vani Mohan, Lobo, Sadhika and Champaka, Engineers Prasad, Swaroop, Vijay, Gurumurthy, Nagaraju, Ramesh, Syed, Marilingaiah and others were present during the foundation laying ceremony.
