Marking World Heritage Day, a four-day Heritage Art Camp organised by Department of Archaeology, Heritage and Museums commenced yesterday at its premises in Dasara exhibition grounds here.
Inaugurating the camp by painting on a canvas, District-in-Charge Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa said that heritage art should be preserved and passed on to the next generation.
He pointed out that heritage monuments and great personalities should be brought alive on the canvas for people to recognise and remember them.
He added that rural areas have a rich treasure of heritage art which should be brought to limelight.
Mayor M.J. Ravikumar, Deputy Mayor Ratna Lakshman, CADA Chairman H.S. Nanjappa, District in-charge Secretary Lakshminarayan, Department in-charge Director Gavisiddaiah and others were present.
