Dr. Veerappa Moily to inaugurate the event tomorrow
Dr. M. Veerappa Moily, MP & Chairman, Parliamentary Standing Committee on Finance, will inaugurate a four-day International Conference on ‘Lord Srirama in Art, Literature and Religion’ at the auditorium of the Department of Archaeology, Museums and Heritage, Karnataka Exhibition Authority premises in city tomorrow (Feb. 22) at 10.30 am.
Prof. Bhashyam Swamiji will grace the occasion. MP Pratap Simha will release the souvenir.
MLAs M.K. Somashekar and Vasu will inaugurate the exhibitions focusing on spiritual and scientific aspects of Ramayana and Ramavatara, put up by IGNCA, GoI and I-SERVE, Institute of Scientific Research on Vedas (ISRV), New Delhi.
Dr. B.R. Mani, Director General, National Museum and Vice-Chancellor, NMI, GoI, will deliver the keynote address. Dr. D.P. Dubey of Allahabad University will preside.
Dr. Yogendra Pratap Singh, Director, Ayodhya Research Institute, Lucknow, Prof. T. Rukmani, Concordia University, Canada and Dr. Soraj Bala (retd.), Director, I-SERVE, ISRV will be the guests of honour.
Dr. N. Manjula, Commissioner, Department of Archaeology, Museums and Heritage, Mysuru and Director, Department of Tourism, GoI and Dr. Gavisiddaiah, Director, Department of Archaeology, Museums and Heritage, Mysuru, will be present.
Valedictory
The 4-day meet, which features technical sessions wherein the specially invited emeritus scholars will present their papers, will conclude on Feb. 25.
Prof. A.V. Narasimhamurthy, Chairman, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan (BVB), Mysuru and Co-Chairman of the Organising Committee of the event, will deliver the valedictory address at 3 pm. PWD and District in-Charge Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa will be the chief guest.
Dr. Rohitha Eswer of Raasavrunda School of dance, Mysuru, will present a dance feature titled ‘Ramasankirthana’ at the valedictory.
The Conference is jointly organised by Prof. Bhashyam Swamiji of Sri Sudarshana Narasimha Kshetra, Vijayanagar, and the Department of Archaeology, Museums and Heritage, Government of Karnataka, in collaboration with Ayodhya Research Institute; ICHR, New Delhi; IGNCA, New Delhi; I-SERVE, New Delhi; IAS, New Delhi & National Museums & NMI, Government of India. The organisers have embarked upon documenting valuable information available in the scholarly scriptures on ‘Dashavatara’ for the benefit of spiritual as well as scientific knowledge seekers.
The interesting feature of this event is three International Scholars (from France; Singapore and the US) have sent in their papers for inclusion in the documentation of the proceedings of this event. An emeritus scholar from Canada will personally present her paper.
