Thrust on improvements in quality and relevance of content key for achieving excellence: AICTE Chairman Prof. Anil D. Sahasrabudhe
Mysore/Mysuru: Maintaining that thrust on continuous improvements in quality and relevance of content is crucial for achieving excellence in the entire education system, AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) Chairman Prof. Anil D. Sahasrabudhe said that the professional education efforts of JSS Mahavidyapeetha is laudable in the present context.
He was delivering the Fourth Convocation address of JSS Science and Technology University (JSS STU) at SJCE campus here this morning.
Pointing out that the University has been serving the cause of society’s higher education by starting a wide range of Engineering and Technology courses at Graduate, Post-Graduate and Doctorate levels, Prof. Sahasrabudhe said he is happy to note that JSS STU has already implemented the programmes in line with the National Education Policy-2020 guidelines, wherein the curriculum and multiple exit with equivalent certification is being awarded.
Noting that the new graduates have reached a milestone in their academic life, he said that learning never ends here irrespective of whether they go for higher education or opt for a job. Learning is and has to be a lifelong process, he added.
Arguing that knowledge plays a crucial role in the overall progress of one’s life, Prof.Sahasrabudhe said he heard recently that CEP Cell has been established in the University for providing lifelong learning and for capacity building. Noting that continuous learning gains relevance in the backdrop of technologies that came into existence just a decade ago have become obsolete with rapid advancements, he opined that availability of skilled human resources including trained technical manpower plays a major role in the nation’s growth.
Terming JSS Mahavidyapeetha as a formidable educational movement, more than an Institution, Prof. Sahasrabudhe said that it is happy to note that it is producing highly competent technical and managerial manpower for decades to meet the ever changing challenges in the era of globalisation.
A total of 1,519 students, including UG, PG and Ph.D students received their certificates on the occasion. A total of 13 first rank holders from 12 different Departments in Engineering (UG) and one from BCA course were presented gold medals. Also, 20 PG toppers including 14 in Master of Technology, one from MCA, one in M.Sc (Chemistry) and four from MBA belonging to different steams, were presented gold medals.
Suttur Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji graced the occasion. JSS Mahavidyapeetha Executive Secretary Dr. C.G. Betsurmath, Technical Education Division Advisor Prof. M.H. Dhananjaya, Director, Technical Education Division Dr. B. Suresh, JSS STU In-charge Vice-Chancellor Prof. A.N. Santosh Kumar, Registrar Prof. S.A. Dhanaraj and others were present.
