Fraud, assault: FIR against Head Constable, wife

Mysore/Mysuru: A case has been registered against Metagalli Police Station Head Constable P.J. Raju and his wife, Nandini, at the Krishnaraja Police Station for allegedly assaulting individuals who demanded the return of money invested in a partnership business.

According to the complaint filed by Siddesh, Manjula and Mahalakshmi, residents of Krishnaraja Mohalla, an FIR has been registered against the couple.

The complainants stated that in 2022, while serving as a constable at Ashokapuram Police Station, Raju was running a paper cup manufacturing unit. He allegedly persuaded them to invest in the business as partners and collected Rs. 35 lakh from Mahalakshmi, Siddesh and Manjula.

Raju reportedly failed to pay them any share of the profits and did not return the invested amount. When the investors recently approached him seeking repayment, Raju and his wife allegedly assaulted and threatened them. The complaint also notes that Raju had earlier been suspended for allegedly colluding with other accused persons.

He had also reportedly extorted money from a Police Inspector and was involved in two other cases, for which he was arrested and later released on bail. Following these incidents, he was transferred to Metagalli Police Station.
