Mysore/Mysuru: Stating that researchers should enhance the value of their work through in-depth studies and research activities, University of Mysore (UoM) Vice-Chancellor Prof. G. Hemantha Kumar said that the University is distributing free laptops to research students in order to realise this.
He was speaking after distributing laptops to the University research students at a programme jointly organised by UoM SC/ST Special Cell and CPDPS at Vijnana Bhavan in Manasagangothri on Monday.
Pointing out that research students had been demanding free laptops for long, Prof. Hemantha Kumar said that the University had made more than 20 representations to the Government in this regard. But as there was no positive response, the University decided to distribute free laptops out of its own funds, he said. Noting that the scope of research is far more different from the past, he called upon the students to make best use of the laptops in their research work.
UoM Registrar Prof. R. Shivappa said that the University has realised the dreams of Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar by becoming one of the top Universities of the country.
Maintaining that the University has contributed a lot for the growth of higher education, both in qualitative and quantitative terms, he said that the University is working towards making students become more creative and innovative.
