Mysuru: Under ‘Hunger Free Campus’ initiative, Santrupti scheme to provide free mid-day meal for the students was re-launched at Maharani’s Science College for Women in the city on Thursday.
Prof. A.H.M. Vijayalakshmi Joint Director, Department of PU Education, Mysuru zone who launched the initiative by serving meal to the students described ‘Anna Dana (provision of food) along with Vidya Dana (Providing education) as a noble task.’
Majority of the students who come to the college from distant villages find it difficult to bring lunch box. It would be good, if food is given to such students. All the teaching faculty who joined hands to make this possible deserve an appreciation, said Prof. Vijayalakshmi.
Prof. M. Abdul Rehman, Principal of Maharani’s Science College for Women gave a call to the needy students to make judicious use of the initiative without any hesitance and study well. As many as 200 students are expected to benefit this year, under the scheme which was launched during the previous academic year.
Convener of the scheme Dr. Preeti N. Tallur, Committee Member Sudha, lecturers and office staff were present.
