Ayushman Bharat Yojana, also called as the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY), is a scheme that aims to help the economically weaker section of the society who are in need of healthcare facilities.
It is the world’s largest health insurance scheme fully financed by the Central Government that was introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sept. 23, 2018. Over 50 crore citizens have already benefited under the Scheme.
This Scheme provides Rs. 5 lakh per BPL card holder family per year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalisation across public and private empanelled hospitals in India. APL card holder will be provided with Rs. 1.5 lakh.

While registering, one must carry copies of Aadhaar card, Ration card and other necessary documents, according to a press release from Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Dr. B.S. Manjunatha Swamy.
