Freedom fighter’s bust garlanded to mark 31st death anniversary

Mysore/Mysuru: Freedom fighter Tagadur Ramachandra Rao was remembered on his 31st death anniversary with many dignitaries garlanding the freedom fighter’s bust at a programme organised by Muguru Karnataka Brahmana Sangha at Tagadur Ramachandra Park in Chamundipuram on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, MUDA Chairman H.V. Rajeev recalled the role of Tagadur Ramachandra Rao in the freedom struggle. Pointing out that Rao remained a true Gandhian till the very end of his life, he said that Ramachandra Rao showed his concern for the society by donating the entire cash prize of Jamnalal Bajaj Award for the welfare of society. 

Muguru Karnataka Brahmana Sangha President M. Vishwanathaiah said that the Government should organise programmes in memory of Tagadur Ramachandra Rao. Also, the Government should bring out a book on the life of the freedom fighter as this would help the present generation know about his struggle for the cause of freedom and the principles he practised.

Sangha Secretary Sindhuvalli Nagaraj, Treasurer K.S. Mallesh, Directors M.V. Nandakumar and T.S. Gopinath, Corporator M.V. Ramprasad, community members Srikanta Sharma, Ramananda Sharma, Somashekar Rao, Tagadur Mohan, Sreekanta Kumar, Homma Manjunath, Anantharamu and others were present.

In another event, Mysuru District Brahmins Association too garlanded the bust of Tagadur Ramachandra Rao at the same venue. Speaking on the occasion, Association President D.T. Prakash said that the freedom fighter had set up Swarajya Mandira at Tagadur, which was used for holding meetings on freedom struggle. 

Pointing out that Ramachandra Rao was imprisoned by British during the freedom struggle, he urged the Government to release a postal stamp as an honour to him. 

Association office-bearer Gopalrao, former Corporator M.D. Parthasarathy, Brahmana Yuva Vedike President Vikram Iyengar, community members Apoorva Suresh, Ajay Shastri, Vinay Kanagal, H.V. Bhaskar and others were present.
