Mysuru: The City Crime Branch (CCB) Police, who conducted separate raids following information about gambling have arrested 15 persons besides seizing Rs. 7,07,070 cash which was on stakes and 20 mobile phones.
In the first raid at Mysore Race Course premises by the CCB Police and Nazarbad Police, the cops have taken 10 people into custody for gambling in the premises besides seizing Rs. 6,11,970 stake money and 14 mobile phones from them. The arrested persons have been identified as Vijay Kumar of JP Nagar, Naveen of Vidyaranyapuram, Veerendrakumar Bhandari of Vijayanagar, Madesh of K.G. Koppal, Charan of Gandhinagar, Sharath, Vikram and Krishnegowda of Bengaluru, Puneeth of Santhebachahalli in K.R. Pet and Shivakumar.
The arrested have been remanded to judicial custody.
In the second raid on a lodge on Chamundi Hill road on Oct. 21, the CCB Police have arrested five persons who were indulged in gambling in a room at the lodge and have seized Rs. 95,100 cash which was on stake besides seizing six mobile phones from them.
The arrested persons have been identified as Anil, V. Deepu, Rajesh, Ramesh and Trilok. A case has been registered at Nazarbad Police Station in this regard.
CCB Inspectors Prasanna Kumar and N.G. Krishnappa, ASIs Shantharaju and L. Subash Chandra and staff took part in the raids.
