Mysuru: With increased raids by Mysuru City and City Crime Branch (CCB) Police, illegal gambling and flesh trade activities within city limits have seen a partial decline.
However, these rackets have now shifted to the outskirts, thriving in lodges, farmhouses and service apartments.
Several establishments on the city’s periphery have turned into hubs for gambling, flesh trade and cricket betting.
These places attract gamblers who willingly pay higher rents for rooms. While Police occasionally conduct raids based on tip-offs — penalising both gamblers and property owners — the operations often resume shortly after the raids end.
Unlike lodges, farmhouses and service apartments rarely come under the radar.
Even when Police act on intelligence, gamblers often spot the incoming Police vehicles and escape, leading officers to believe the tip-off was false and return without action.
