Gandhi Shilp Bazaar at JSS Mysuru Urban Haat: A Confluence of Indian Handicrafts

Mysuru: The JSS Mysuru Urban Haat, located on Ring Road in Hebbal, Mysuru, is drawing art lovers and shoppers alike with its vibrant crafts festival ‘Gandhi Shilp Bazaar’ featuring nearly 50 stalls showcasing and selling exquisite handicrafts and handloom products.

The Gandhi Shilp Bazaar, organised here, has become a major attraction, delighting visitors with a diverse range of traditional crafts available at affordable prices — directly from artisans to customers. From Ramanagara district, Halesh’s beautifully crafted clay pots and terracotta artworks are particularly popular, attracting many buyers and enjoying brisk sales.

Equally eye-catching are the metal craft creations by Poosharam Ramawat from Jodhpur, Rajasthan, which captivate craft enthusiasts with their intricate workmanship.

The stall of Shobharani from Venkatagiri, Andhra Pradesh, is another highlight, offering elegant Kalankari sarees and dress materials that draw significant attention.

The bazaar features an impressive array of crafts from across the country — Karnataka’s wooden carvings and the famous toys of Channapatna, Tamil Nadu’s renowned Kanchipuram silk sarees, Kerala’s bed sheets and table covers, decorative jute products and wall hangings, Jharkhand’s Tussar silk sarees, floor mats crafted by artisans from Delhi and Goa  and Bihar’s Tussar sarees.

Altogether, handicrafts and handloom creations from about 20 States are on display, offering visitors a rich cultural experience.

Gandhi Shilp Bazaar will run till Nov. 20, from 10 am to 9 pm, with free entry for all.
