Mysore/Mysuru: Former MLA Vasu said that a week-long programme on ‘Gandhi-Yashodharamma Dasappa’ and on ‘Healthy Youth for a Healthy Society’ will take place at Yashodharapura in Hunsur taluk from July 1 to 7.
Addressing a press meet here recently, Vasu, who is also the President of city-based H.C. Dasappa Institute of Public Affairs, said that it is necessary to educate the youth of today on the life and achievements of H.C. Dasappa and Yashodharamma, who were clean and honest politicians.
The programme is taking place at Yashodharapura near Hunsur town, which is jointly organised by H.C. Dasappa Institute of Public Affairs, NSS, Vidyavardhaka Law College, Mysuru District Legal Services Authority, Seshadripuram Degree College and Karnataka Gandhi Smaraka Nidhi.
Justice K.S. Mudgal will inaugurate the programme at 4 pm on July 1, while Principal District and Sessions Court Judge G.S. Sangreshi will unveil a portrait of Yashodharamma, who was known as Karnataka’s Kasturba.
Mysuru Deputy Commissioner Dr. K.V. Rajendra will lay the foundation stone for Yashodharapura Mahadwara, the village for which Yashodharamma has contributed a lot.
The week-long programme features service activities, lecture series and other programmes.
The valedictory will take place at 11 am on July 7 with Higher Education Council Vice-President Dr. Y.S. Siddegowda delivering the valedictory address.
Former Mayor P. Vishwanath and Prof. Shivaraj were present at the press meet.
