Mysuru: Narasimharaja (NR) Police have arrested a ganja peddler and have seized about 6-kg ganja, which he had purchased from Andhra Pradesh to sell the same in city.
The accused has been identified as a 40-year-old resident of Ghousianagar.
NR Sub-Inspector S.K. Ganesh and staff Sanjay Pawar, Basavaraju and Rathankumar, were on their regular patrolling on Kesare-Naidu Nagar Road on Friday when they saw a pedestrian carrying a large plastic bag. On seeing the Cops, the pedestrian threw away the bag and began to flee only to be chased by the Police, who caught hold of him.
During interrogation, the pedestrian is said to have told the Police that he had purchased ganja at a village in Andhra Pradesh and was on his way to sell the banned narcotic substance. The Police then seized the plastic bag containing about 6-kg ganja leaves.
Based on the complaint from the Sub-Inspector, NR Inspector Lakshmikanth Talawar has registered a case and has initiated further action.
