Ganja peddler sentenced to five years jail

Mysore/Mysuru: The city’s Principal District and Sessions Court has sentenced a 25-year-old man to five years jail besides imposing a fine of Rs. 25,000 after he was found guilty of peddling ganja.

The convict is Mohammed Yasin, a resident of MKDK Street in Mandi Mohalla.

Mandi Police, who had arrested Yasin on charges of peddling ganja, had seized 1 kg and 335 grams of ganja leaves from his possession, registered a case and had submitted a charge-sheet to the Court.

Judge Prabhavathi M. Hiremath, who took up the case, heard the arguments from both sides, found Yasin guilty of the crime and sentenced him to five years simple imprisonment besides imposing a fine of Rs. 25,000.
