Garbage dumping on the rise along Ring Road

Sir,

Despite repeatedly bringing the issue to the attention of Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) authorities through this column, garbage dumping along the service road of the Ring Road — from Aditya Circle to H.D. Kote Road junction — continues unchecked. The garbage heap is growing by the day, creating an eyesore for both residents and tourists.

There are two main reasons for this menace:

First, irresponsible citizens  who, instead of handing over household waste to MCC garbage collection vans, arrive in vehicles and dump garbage along the service road. When confronted, they become aggressive.

Second, the MCC’s lack of systematic waste clearance — Pourakarmikas themselves are seen segregating waste and discarding dry waste on nearby vacant plots and roadsides.

I urge the MCC Commissioner to take firm action: Clear the accumulated garbage along this stretch and install warning signboards to deter citizens from dumping waste.
