Gas geyser leak mishap: 2 sisters choke to death

Periyapatna, Oct. 25- Two sisters met their tragic end, after allegedly inhaling the poisonous gas that emitted from a gas geyser at their home in Bettadapura in the taluk yesterday.

The deceased are identified as Gulpharm Taj (23) and her sister Simran Taj (20), daughters of Altaf and Surayya couple. Altaf is a vegetable vendor.

The tragedy struck, when the sisters duo went for bath. They reportedly suffered suffocation and fell unconscious in the bathroom. As they didn’t come out of the bathroom, even after some time, the relatives present at the house called for them. When the two didn’t respond, the relatives broke open the door, only to find them collapsed on the floor. They were rushed to the General Hospital, but had breathed their last, it is said.

The bodies were handed over to the parents after post-mortem at General Hospital. A case has been registered in this regard at Periyapatna Police Station. Meanwhile, experts have cautioned against using gas geyser at home without proper ventilation facility, that may lead to a mishap.

5-yr-old dies in accident

In another incident, a five-year-old girl died, while another girl suffered injuries, when they were allegedly hit by a tractor at Alanahalli in H.D. Kote taluk in the district yesterday.

Sanjana, daughter of Sajan and Sangeetha Devi couple is the victim. The couple, hailing from Choreya village, Madhubani district in Bihar, were working at Saptagiri Poultry Farm near Alanahalli village, where about 20 people from the same State, have migrated to Mysuru and are handling different jobs.

While the parents were working at the farm, Sanjana and another girl, was knocked down by the tractor owned by the poultry farm owner. The driver’s negligence is said to be the cause for accident.

Meanwhile, the parents of another girl, who suffered fracture in her left hand in the incident, were found distraught as nobody came forward to arrange for her treatment.

The concerned locals appealed poultry farm owner to provide compensation to the parents of the deceased girl and arrange for the treatment of the injured girl. H.D. Kote Police have registered a case.
