Mysuru: The first set of gates have been installed at the Tavarakatte entrance to the Chamundi Hill. The other four gates will be installed at Daivi Vana, entrance from the Helipad (Lalitha Mahal) side and Uttanahalli side.
The PWD has undertaken this work and the Chamundi Hill Temple authorities fund it. The work on the other four gates will be completed before Ashada ends. The gates will be closed from 10 pm to 5 am every day. Except for the residents of Chamundi Hill, the entry will be restricted to all others from 10 pm onwards.
The proposal to restrict the entry to public was put up by K.R. Police and Deputy Commissioner D. Randeep
had held discussions regarding this with the officials of the PWD, Chamundi Hill Executive Officer, Muzrai Tahsildar, Traffic Sub-Division ACP and K.R. Police Inspector.
It may be recalled that there were several complaints from the residents of the Chamundi Hill and even the general public regarding the illegal activities and revelry indulged by the youngsters at nights in the Hill that was said to be tarnishing the image and the sanctity of the Hill.
Bowing to the complaints, the DC Randeep and his team took the decision finally to impose restrictions regarding the entry to the Hill at night, said K.R. Inspector Prakash to Star of Mysore.
