Mysore/Mysuru: Deputy Commissioner Dr. K.V. Rajendra has directed the officials to gather one lakh yogasana enthusiasts for Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav Yogathon in city on Jan. 15. As Mysuru is a Yoga Hub, the interested must be gathered for the event. The DC issued the instructions during the preliminary meeting organised at Zilla Panchayat auditorium here on Friday. The Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports (DYES) is organising Yogathon.
“The officers should discuss with the Government and private parties concerned and make arrangements for the success of the event,” said the DC. He also insisted on roping in more yoga enthusiasts outnumbering one lakh yoga practitioners who had participated in Yoga Day previous year. Hence, measures should be taken to involve the students of Government and non-Government institutions and the inmates of Govt. Hostels in the district.
Most importantly accurate information should be collected on the participating yoga practitioners. Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) will make necessary arrangements like drinking water, toilet and cleanliness should be ensured for the comfort of those participating in the event. Besides, ambulance should be stationed and yoga teachers should be arranged for those willing to participate in the event, DC directed the respective Departments. Mysuru ZP Deputy Secretary Premkumar and other officials were present.
