Mysuru: Ganabharathi has organised a unique programme ‘Geeta Vadya Natana Sammilana’ on Jan.11 at 6 pm at its premises in Kuvempunagar.
A dancer, a vocalist and an instrumentalist will come together to interpret the same compositions. Here each artiste will exploit the scope of their art medium without compromising their art form and create a dialogue with the other artistes in a spirit of exploration.
Dance will be performed by Vidu. Archana Bhat, flute by Vid. Smitha Srikiran and vocal by Vidu. M.A.Jyothi. They will be accompanied on natuvangam by Nayana, on violin by Vidwan Keshava, on mridangam by Tumkur B. Shashishankar and Vid. A. Radhesh.
Profile : M. S. Archana Bhat was interested in Bharathanayam since a very young age. She started learing under Vid. Lakshminarayan, Guru Nirupama and currently under Padma Bhushana Dr. Padma Subrahmaniam.
A recipient of Vasundhara Doreswamy Gold Medal in M.A. in Bharatanatyam, she is a ‘B’ Grade artiste in Doordarshan, Bengaluru.
Smitha Srikiran, a leading Flutist, learnt flute under the tutelage of Vidwan A.V. Prakash and vocal under Vidushi Dr. R.N. Srilatha. She got first prize in AIR National-level competition and is a ‘B high’ graded artiste in the AIR. She has received many awards like Ananya Yuva Prathibe Puraskar. She has started a music school ‘Taranga’ to train students.
Vidushi M.A.Jyothi is a versatile musician, proficient in Karnatak vocal and violin. Her initiation into music began at home by her mother Neeraja Achuta Rao. She has also learnt vocal under Guru Vidu. Neela Ramagopal and violin from violin maestro Padma Bhushana Lalgudi Jayaraman. She is a ‘B high’ artiste of AIR.
