GIAN Course on Biomedical Signal Processing at SJCE

Mysuru: Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering (SJCE) has been identified as host institution by Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, for the prestigious GIAN (Global Initiative for Academic Networks) programme Phase-II.

A series of programmes were conducted by eminent international faculties in different fields of Engineering at SJCE.

In continuation to the GIAN programme, a two-week course on “Advanced Course on Biomedical Signal Processing” was organised by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering recently.

The course was delivered by International faculty Dr. Suresh Sundaram, Associate Professor, Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore and Host faculty Dr. K.M. Anil Kumar, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering.

The course covered biomedical signal processing, image analysis with several advanced EEG signal processing for brain computer interface, prosthetics and MRI processing, f-MRI processing and advanced machine learning algorithm (statistics, neural network, online support vector machines, deep learning) for medical analytics.

It also dealt with specific case studies on neuro-developmental disorder, neuro-degenerative diseases, and cognition problem, which are currently the major research focus area for building sophisticated solutions for medical image analysis.

The course was attended by undergraduate students, postgraduate students, research scholars and faculty members from institutes across Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
