Gigantic geo portrait of Sir MV unveiled

Gigantic geo portrait

Mysore/Mysuru: The Department of Civil Engineering, Maharaja Institute of Technology Mysore (MIT Mysore), in association with SAI CAD Institute, Bengaluru, has made a historic attempt as a tribute to Bharat Ratna Sir M. Visvesvaraya (MV), on the occasion of Engineers’ Day-2025 by creating a gigantic geo portrait measuring 80 metres x 100 metres (covering 8,000 square metres / 86,111 square feet) at its sports ground.

This is a first-of-its-kind attempt in India and will be a unique tribute to the legendary engineer and administrator of the erstwhile Mysore Princely State. This portrait is made using manufactured sand (M-Sand), 40 mm down-graded coarse aggregates, nylon thread, harmless colours and soil.

The mega geo portrait, which was unveiled today (Sept. 16), will be on display to public till Sept. 20. Also, the interested schools and colleges who wish to visit the venue may do so during the working hours on any convenient day during this week.
