Mysuru: As part of Gita Jayanti celebrations, Srikantha Samskrita Patashala, Shankar Mutt Layout, 4th Cross, Khille Mohalla in city, has organised a Bhagavad Gita Recitation Competition and other Competitions for school children at 10 am on Dec. 15.
The Competitions will take place at Srikantha Girls High School premises.
The Competition will be held in three categories — 1st to 4th standard, 5th to 7th standard and 8th to 10th standard.
The students of 1st to 4th standard must recite Shlokas 1 to 6 of ‘Shraddha Traya Vibhaga Yoga’ coming under Chapter 17 of Bhagavad Gita, while the students of 5th to 7th standard must recite Shlokas 7 to 13 and students of 8th to 10th standard, Shlokas 14 to 28.
Except students of 1st to 4th standard, all other students must also explain the meaning of any of the two Shlokas they recite.
The other competitions are:
• Rendition of Mahakavi Kalidasa Praneeta Mahakavya Raghuvamshasya Mangalacharanam Gunanirdeshascha (Open to Primary to High School students); • Essay Writing Contest on ‘Karmayoga’ of Bhagavad Gita not exceeding 2 pages (Open to High School students only); • Singing of any one of the Kritis of Purandaradasa or Kanakadasa.
The Competitions are open to students aged below 16 years of age. Last date for schools to send names of their participant students is Dec. 13.
