Mysore/Mysuru: As part of Gita Jayanti celebrations, Srikantha Samskrita Patashala, Shankar Mutt Layout, 4th Cross, Khille Mohalla in city, has organised a Bhagavad Gita Recitation Competition and other competitions for school children on Dec. 7 at 10 am. The competitions will be held at Srikantha Girls High School premises.
The competition will be held in three categories — 1st to 4th standard, 5th to 7th standard and 8th to 10th standard.
The students of 1st to 4th standard must recite Shlokas 1 to 6 of ‘Moksha Sanyasa Yoga’ coming under Chapter 18 of Bhagavad Gita, while the students of 5th to 7th standard must recite Shlokas 7 to 13 and students of 8th to 10th standard, Shlokas 14 to 28.
Except students of 1st to 4th standard, all other students must also explain the meaning of any of the two Shlokas they recite.
It is advised to follow Srimad Bhagavad Gita by Swami Adi Devananda, published by Sri Ramakrishna Ashram. There is no restriction on the number of contestants. However, the group recitation is not allowed.
The other competitions are as follows: • Rendition of Achyutashtakam (Open to Primary to High School students)
• Essay Writing Contest on ‘Sankya Yoga’ of Bhagavad Gita not exceeding 2 pages (Open to High School students only).
• Singing of any one of the Kritis of Purandaradasa or Kanakadasa.
The competitions are open to students aged below 16 years.
