As part of the Mysuru Dasara celebration, the idol (Utsava Murthi) of Goddess Chamundeshwari, also known as Mahishasura Mardhini (in the possession of Mysore Palace), was handed over by Mysore Palace Board to the Chamundi Hill Temple authorities this morning. The idol was received by Chamundi Temple Executive Officer (EO) Krishna from Palace Board Deputy Director T.S. Subramanya. From now, till Oct. 15, pujas and rituals will be performed to the Goddess. On Oct. 15, Music Director Hamsalekha will have the honour of showering flower petals on the idol to inaugurate Dasara. This idol will be placed inside the Golden Ambari atop the Howdah elephant during Vijayadashami procession.
