Gold chains snatched at N.R. Mohalla in broad daylight

Mysore/Mysuru: In two separate incidents, bike-borne miscreants have snatched gold chains of women at different places in N.R. Mohalla yesterday afternoon.

The women, who lost their gold chains are 36-year-old Sunitha of R.S. Naidu Nagar and 50-year-old Jayamma of Kesare.

In the first incident, Sunitha was walking with her husband near Thibbadevi Theatre at about 12.30 pm, when two miscreants on a Bajaj Discover bike yanked off her 20 grams gold chain. As Sunitha held on to her chain, the miscreants were able to snatch about 10 grams of the gold chain and sped away.

In the second incident, Jayamma, who arrived from Malavalli to city, took a city bus, alighted at Naidu Nagar Bus Stop and was walking on the cross road in Kesare 3rd stage, when two bike borne miscreants, who came from behind, snatched her 25 grams gold chain at about 12.50 pm and sped away.

N.R. Police, who rushed to the spots, conducted mahazar, registered cases and began their hunt to nab the miscreants but in vain. CCTV footage showed that the youths wearing face masks on a Bajaj Discover bike committing the crime. The Cops immediately flashed a message and though they (Police) installed barricades across the city and conducted checking, they were unable to nab the miscreants, a senior Police official said.
