Mysuru: The Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC) will run luxury train Golden Chariot on two short trips to Mysuru during Dasara celebrations.
Popularly called Palace-on- Wheels, the Golden Chariot covers important tourist destinations in Karnataka in the southern circuit. The seven nights, six days tour reaches Mysuru from Bengaluru and the tourists are taken around Mysore Palace, Kabini backwaters and forest safari. It also touches Hampi to showcase the Vijayanagar kingdom, touches Goa and the memorable trip ends in Bengaluru.
However, the KSTDC has decided to introduce two short trips to Mysuru during the Dasara celebrations. The Tourism Department is promoting the Dasara campaign in a special way by introducing 3-D projection, which will reflect the grandeur of Dasara and Mysuru’s history.
The KSTDC, which operates the train in collaboration with Indian Railways, will soon announce the special tour package, the rates and the places to be covered. The train was commercially launched in 2008 and last Dasara too, special packages were introduced to cater to Dasara tourists. The train’s regular tours essentially cater to international tourists. The train has 44 luxury cabins, which can accommodate 88 travellers.
Parasailing at Film City: As part of adventure sports, for the first time, parasailing is being introduced at Film City coming up in Immavu village, near Nanjangud. This is the first time Tourism Department is co-opted as part of Dasara celebrations and it is reflected in the invitations being printed by using its logo.
