Mysore/Mysuru: Jayachamaraja Wadiyar Golf Club (JWGC) which was started in early 1980s, elected Sonam Chugh as its first lady committee member during the elections held yesterday.
In elections held to the three posts of the Committee Members from the Playing category, Sonam secured 707 votes out of the 1,099 valid ballots to be elected along with D.V. Sridhar and H.C. Subramanya.
A former professional golfer and currently International Rules Official and also a listed referee for the Indian Golf Union (IGU), Sonam is the daughter of V. Prakash, former JWGC President and Nina Ahuja. Speaking to Star of Mysore, Sonam thanked the JWGC members for choosing her to be one of the Committee Members.
