Mysuru: With Election Commission improvising arrangements at polling booths, the election process went on peacefully in the district.
The District Administration had provided all needed facilities at the polling booths like potable water, toilets, wheel chairs for the physically challenged and aged people with ramps and uninterrupted power. There were 23,646 physically challenged voters in 11 Constituencies of the district.
A proposal to set up an exclusive polling booth in every Constituency for physically challenged may be implemented in the coming years which will be maintained by physically challenged staff.
To motivate forest tribals to vote, tribal or ethnic polling booths were opened in H.D. Kote, Hunsur and Periyapatna Constituencies with matching interior decor. Another special feature was 24 pink polling booths maintained by women staff all dressed in pink to facilitate women voters.
With strict enforcement of rules, buntings and banners of political leaders were missing giving no room for any clashes.
With Police and paramilitary personnel maintaining tight security, by and large, the polling went on peacefully without any problem.
