Somwarpet: A Government Hospital doctor was killed while his wife, son and sister sustained injuries, when the car in which they were travelling hit a roadside tree near Chilkunda village in Hunsur taluk yesterday afternoon.
The deceased is Dr. Ravindran (59), Medical Officer at Somwarpet Government Hospital in Kodagu and a resident of J.P. Nagar in Mysuru.
Dr. Ravindran, was on leave since 15 days following the demise of his mother. Yesterday, Dr. Ravindran, along with his wife, son and his sister left for Somwarpet from Mysuru in his Maruti 800 car to report to duty. While proceeding near Chilkunda village at about 1 pm, Dr. Ravindran, who was behind the wheels of the car, lost control of the vehicle, which rammed into a roadside tree. While Dr. Ravindran and his sister suffered serious injuries, his wife and son escaped with minor injuries. Though Dr. Ravindran and his sister were being rushed to a private hospital in Mysuru, Dr. Ravindran breathed his last mid way. His sister has been admitted to the hospital, where she is said to be out of danger.
Dr. Ravindran, who was serving at Gundlupet Govt. Hospital, was transferred to Somwarpet Govt. Hospital 8 months ago and was residing at the guest house along with his family.
