Governor orders release of pension to Mysore Varsity pensioners

Mysore/Mysuru: A day after pensioners of University of Mysore (UoM) staged a demonstration seeking payment of pension, the Office of the Governor, who is also the Chancellor of all State-run Universities, has authorised the University Registrar and the Finance Officer to release pension, salaries of staff and other financial transactions pertaining to the University.

The payment of pension got delayed in the absence of a Vice-Chancellor, with the High Court staying the appointment of Prof. N.K. Lokanath as the Vice-Chancellor. This had resulted in the non-payment of pension to about 1,860 pensioners of the University, following which the pensioners had staged a demonstration in front of Crawford Hall here on Monday.

Now the pensioners can heave a sigh of relief with the Governor’s Office authorising the Registrar for release of pension.

Meanwhile, Pensioners Association Secretary Krishnamallegowda has thanked Chief Minister Siddharamaiah, District In-charge Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa and the Governor for release of salaries of staff and pension to pensioners.
