Mysore/Mysuru: To safeguard Mutt properties from being sold, leased out or encroached, the State Government yesterday appointed Mysuru Assistant Commissioner as the Administrative Officer (AO) of Aramane Panchagavi Mutt. The Mutt is located at the foot of Chamundi Hill and has large swathes of green land as properties.
Following complaints that attempts are being made to misuse/ grab the Mutt’s landed properties, the Revenue Department (Muzrai) issued an order appointing Mysuru Assistant Commissioner as the AO of the Mutt with immediate effect.
The order has been signed by H.L. Varalakshmi, Government Under Secretary, Revenue Department (Muzrai).
The AO has been asked to scrutinise the Mutt records and submit periodic reports on the status of all the Mutt’s landed properties.
Following the order, Mysuru Assistant Commissioner Venkataraju is likely to take charge as the AO today.
The Government order comes after CM B.S. Yediyurappa, who had visited Mysuru about a fortnight ago. During the visit, the CM was apprised on the alleged misuse of the Mutt properties by some persons.
