Mysore/Mysuru: Taking forward the unique initiatives by the Mysuru District Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) Committee in its attempts to draw the maximum number of people to the polling booths on the day of voting, the District Health Department has asked its staff to provide medical aid to all the polling booths at Taluk level.
In a communication, District Health Officer (DHO) Dr. K.H. Prasad has stated that all Out Patient Department (OPD) slips must carry the message of mandatory voting. The OPD slips will contain a printed message on the voting right and duty.
In addition, taluk-level health officers and teams have been asked to visit the check-posts at least once a day and examine the staff who are doing round-the-clock duty. In all, 54 check-posts have been established across Mysuru.
The health officers have been asked to ensure the presence of health kits, first-aid kits and ORS sachets at all the polling stations. Each polling station has to be accounted for. Also, teams must be formed along with the doctors of Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) to visit each polling booth and provide emergency services if need be.
The Taluk Health Officer has the responsibility of visiting all the jurisdictional polling booths on May 9 and May 10. All the doctors and paramedical staff are expected to be stationed at the headquarters and must ensure that there is no disruption of service even during nights.
