Govt. to implement ‘Akrama-Sakrama’ for urban poor

Bengaluru: With the Assembly polls just a year away, the State Government has again come forward to implement ‘Akrama-Sakrama’ in City Corporations and other Urban Civic Bodies limits, for the benefit of the urban poor.

The move comes close on the heels of the Government announcing ‘Akrama-Sakrama’ for regularisation of houses constructed by the poor on Revenue lands in rural areas.

Now with the Government coming forward to extend the scheme to urban areas, the poor and the middle class, who have constructed such houses in Corporation limits and Urban Civic Bodies limits will heave a sigh of relief.

The Government is planning to regularise houses built by the poor and urban middle class in 30×40 sites located within 18 km radius from the heart of cities and towns. But, the penalty to be levied for regularisation will be finalised at the Cabinet meeting likely to take place today.

The Government expects huge revenue by the implementation of ‘Akrama-Sakrama’ and the revenue earned will be utilised for infrastructure development in cities and towns.
