Govt. mulling on granting reservation for poor families from upper castes

Bengaluru: It is reliably learnt that the State Government is contemplating on extending reservation benefits to poor families from upper castes.

The Congress Government, which is leaving no stone unturned for retaining power in the 2018 Assembly polls, is now planning to bring poor families from upper castes such as Brahmin and Vaishya communities, under the reservation bracket.

With Assembly polls less than a year away, the Congress plans to cash in on making such a move, which would bring upper caste communities closer to it.

The Congress believes that the inclusion of upper class families in the reservation bracket, means extension of its Social Justice plank covering all communities.

The Congress leaders, realising including the poor from upper castes in the reservation bracket would bring the upper castes closer to the party, have urged the Government to make such a move, it is learnt.]
